The Musa Basjoo Banana Tree is the world’s cold hardiest banana tree. It is hardy planted in the ground to -3°F and with protective mulching, it can survive temperatures reaching down to -20°F. Its inflorescence is one of the most beautiful of all bananas. It is a great landscape plant, it lends a tropical appearance to any situation. This is a great addition for gardeners living in cold temperate areas.
This banana can be grown in all 50 states. Gets 10 - 12 feet tall depending on light and watering. It does not produce edible bananas. This Japanese native is hardy to zero when mulched. It will grow to 12 feet tall (10-11 feet in a large pot) and grace your northern yard with giant tropical-looking banana stems and leaves.

The Cold Hardy Musa basjoo Plant, also known as the Japanese Fiber Banana, grows in zones 5 to 10.
